Counselling is a powerful and effective form of treatment for many mental health issues. It can give you the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment.

Through the use of psychotherapy, you can gain insight into your issues and develop the tools necessary to make positive changes in your life. It can also provide support in times of crisis, helping you to cope with difficult emotions and to make healthier decisions.

Janet providing Counselling services at Align Healthcare Clinic

“I completely understand how challenging life can be at times, and sometimes things can feel overwhelming. Our worries can create many negative feelings, including anxiety and depression, which can in turn, make us feel isolated, alone and misunderstood. Having a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk through whatever is on your mind can be incredibly powerful in enabling you to unburden and begin to heal. By being truly listened too, perhaps for the first time, I believe you can start to make sense of your experiences and find solutions to whatever is troubling you.

I am a qualified person-centered counsellor with experience of working with both adults and children, and I offer warmth, honesty, respect and empathy. I believe that you have the ability to find your own path towards restoring balance and peace in your life and becoming empowered to achieve your full potential.

Having personally experienced anxiety and depression, I fully understand the debilitating effect they can have on everyday life. I also appreciate how difficult it can be to take the first steps towards sharing your worries, thoughts and feelings with another person, but by doing so, you can start to become less stuck and begin to move forward in a more positive way.

Thank you for reading.”

What is Counselling?

It is a process where an individual meets with our trained professional counsellor to talk about issues and problems that they are facing in their lives. There are different types of techniques used by counsellors, the most popular being Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Our experienced counsellor is also a qualified Children’s Counsellor as well as adults.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Our therapist will sometime incorporate hypnotherapy into her counselling sessions if she believes it will help. Hypnotherapy is a type of mind-body intervention in which hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility in the treatment of a medical or psychological disorder or concern. It is sometimes used as part of a treatment plan for phobias and other anxiety disorders. It is also sometimes used for pain management, weight loss, smoking cessation, and a variety of other applications. Studies have also been shown for it to help improve Chronic pain too.

During your session

All treatments received at the clinic are kept strictly confidential, the counsellor will type up secure confidential notes during the treatment that only they will be able to access. We have created a friendly, open and relaxed environment - and our counsellor will work with you in a calm and none judgemental manned to help with any problems, concerns or issues that you have.

During your first session, the counsellor will discuss the most appropriate type of treatment plan for you. As mentioned above, various techniques can be used, such as Person-Centred, CBT, hypnotherapy, mindfulness and meditation. As everyone’s issues vary, your treatment will be personalized for you.
