Reduce Pain.
Restore Movement.
Accelerate Recovery.

If persistent tendon or soft tissue pain has been holding you back, Radial Shockwave Therapy may help. This non-invasive treatment supports your body's natural healing process, helping to reduce pain, improve movement, and get you back to doing the things you enjoy.

Shockwave therapy uses mechanical sound waves to deliver controlled pulses into the painful or affected tendon. Rather than simply treating the pain, the aim is to mechanically stimulate the tendon and encourage a healing response within the tissue. It is particularly effective for long-standing tendon and soft tissue conditions that haven't responded to other treatment.

Our goal isn't simply to reduce your symptoms; it's to help you move more comfortably, return to the activities you enjoy, and get back to living with less pain without the need for injections or surgery.

Clinical Evidence & NICE Guidance

Shockwave therapy has been studied extensively in clinical research, with clear evidence suggesting it can be beneficial for a number of persistent tendon and musculoskeletal conditions, particularly when symptoms have not improved with more conventional treatment.

NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) has reviewed the evidence for Shockwave therapy and have considered the treatment to have no major safety concerns.

Shockwave therapy is not a guaranteed quick fix and also may not work for everyone, but it is a well-researched treatment option that may stimulate improvement when used as part of a rehabilitation plan.

Common conditions we treat

Shockwave therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of persistent musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Achilles tendinopathy

  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)

  • Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis)

  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy

  • Calcific shoulder tendinopathy

  • Patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee)

  • Gluteal tendinopathy

  • Hamstring tendinopathy

  • Peroneal tendinopathy

  • Tibialis posterior tendinopathy

  • Other chronic tendon and soft tissue conditions

Your Appointment & Treatment Plan

Your first appointment consists of a full assessment where we'll discuss your symptoms, examine the affected area and identify the cause of your pain. If Shockwave Therapy is suitable, we'll create a personalised plan. Treatment is typically delivered as a minimum course of three sessions (£210), usually spaced one week apart, with advice and exercises where appropriate to support your recovery.

What Does Treatment Feel Like?

Treatment typically takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Most people describe the sensation as mildly to moderately uncomfortable rather than painful, although this can vary depending on the condition and the sensitivity of the tissues involved.

It is common to experience some mild soreness or tenderness after treatment, similar to the feeling after exercise. This usually settles within 24–48 hours, and most people are able to continue their normal daily activities immediately afterwards.

When Will I See Results?

Some people notice an improvement after the first few sessions, while for others progress is more gradual. Every person and condition responds differently, depending on factors such as how long the problem has been present and the severity of the tissue involved.

Because shockwave therapy stimulates your body's natural healing process, improvements often continue even after your course of treatment has finished. As healing progresses over the following weeks and months, many people experience ongoing reductions in pain, improved function, and a gradual return to their normal activities.
